There is nothing more important than using your voice. The vote last year in America was one of the most significant milestones in our history. What matters is that you use your voice. A few weeks ago, I got my first Covid vaccine. It was an emotional experience for me. Life getting back to the next normal. The fact that I could get on a plane again really changes everything. There is nothing like seeing people, meeting people, discovering things when you travel the world. It really is a dichotomy, a velvet devil. And in a lot of ways, that's how I felt about last year. There was some really intimate things about it. Connections with other people. And then there was just the hell of it. One of the most difficult things I found about last year was I don't really have any business coming in. I'm not going anywhere. And what am I going to do? Just give me a second, because you made me think about something else. Many people lost people last year, and I am one of them. We lost my grandma to Covid and it has been really hard. It's been very difficult in a weird way. Tie that to all of the things that died last year. A metaphorical sense. No trade shows last year. A lot of relationships ended because you didn't see people and people ended relationships with companies. The Project Peacock Platform. The entire ecosystem of what everybody needs is in one place. I think it's really important they can get print samples. They can find printers who have that equipment. This is cool. I want to do it. Great. This is who you can do it with.

Mike Grehan got a great idea when he met CHILI publish at drupa 2016. With a background in the funeral industry, he saw a gigantic potential in making coffins out of paper/board, and an even larger potential with personalized print on coffins. When we met him at SPICYtalks 19 in Berlin - ironically in a crematorium turned into a cultural venue, we got the chance to do this interview with him. This interview clearly shows a couple of interesting things - first; We don't think any at CHILI publish ever considered that CHILI Publisher could be used to make personalized coffins. Second, this clearly shows that paper and printing technology still can be used to invent new solutions, and in this incident also turning something like wooden coffins into an environmentally friendly solution. Mark's Quest for American Exhibitors took him to Fujifilm's booth, where he met with Dean Haertel. Heartel has a broad background in the industry but now works for Fujifilm. Here, he presents print bars that can be added to analog equipment. It's interesting how more and more companies offer inkjet print opportunities to make analog machines true hybrids!

PrintPack India 2019 exceeded expectations from both visitors and exhibitors. One of the people we spoke to was Samir Patkar, President of Heidelberg India. It was Heidelberg's first time at PrintPack but not last. Samir Patkar expressed that this show was way better than other shows they have exhibited with before. When we spoke with President S. Dayaker Reddy from IPAMA (the organizers), he told that the interest for the show was so significant that they hade to say 'no' to close to 40 exhibitors - a story almost impossible to believe for westerns like your humble editor at INKISH.TV but the case! Total numbers of visitors ended at 90.720 - so not the target of 100.000 visitors but quite close. In comparison, last DRUPA was 260.165 which was a decrease from its peak of 444.214 in 1990. Both gentlemen mentioned above we will soon be published in full interviews, so stay tuned. In this, our finale film from PrintPack you can see Indian versions of UV LED and of course snippets from the show. As the legendary Rock-band Queen once sung "The Show Must Go On" and so it will. PrintPack India 2019 takes place in 5 halls - quite big - and congested when you take into consideration that the organizer IPAMA expect 100.000 visitors. First day (Friday, Feb 1st) was not so crowded but the weekend - it was just amazing how many people attended from all over India. In this film, we walk you through one of the more machines that convert paper into to straws. As I mention the need to get rit of plastic opens up markets for paper-based products - and straws could be made on this machine from Weixin. In this film ower and CEO Rajan Harjai fra FillFlo also shows how simple his air-flow-packaging machines are - and though he doesn't tell in the film, the machines are sold from approx. 39.000 IN similar to $545 or 478€. The second day was as good as the first, maybe even better, since we got the chance to talk to even more exciting people. We also talked to Antoine Roux from Printoclock - a successful French online printer. He shared a lot of things, but also something as "tedious" as the challenges he sees with French legislation. Johnny Hobeika, who is head of the European part of the amazingly excellent ePac packaging company. Exciting speakers who do not only share their stories, but also gives you an insight in what make them unique. Joris Kuperkray from RPI talks about the business of being a white-label supplier only with plants in both Europe and in the US. At PrintPack India almost 500 exhibitors are showcasing their products. Some are local only, some are producers in India for both the domestic and international market and then many international exhibitors are displaying their products and services. In this episode, we speak with Amitabh Jain from Unittex India who design and import cover materials ranging from paper-based products to leather and synthetics. Stunningly great looking and material that can be used for both books, packaging, and other exclusive products. We also got a chance to talk to Takeshi Amano from Miyakoshi. Miaykoshi is introducing a new offset machine for the label-market and with UV-curing on each unit, the machine seems to be a good fit for the demanding label printer. The Indian print market is a 250.000+ print service providers offering an enormous potential and as already mentioned in the episode from yesterday the optimism in the market is amazing. One of the most amazing things about visiting PrintPack India is an amazing belief in the future. Everybody talks about growth and this leads to great optimism also from vendors. Yesterday, we attended a dinner and cocktail party sponsored by APTech and ProVin. Leader after leader from both Japanese and Indian companies expressed satisfaction over the trends and, of course, the signed deals. In the suburbs of Bologna, the Italian vendor LOGICA recently moved to a new HQ. LOGICA has specialized in developing software bridging data from production to MIS systems, enabling printers to get a better overview of production and identify bottlenecks. One of my favorite books brings to life the time when Johannes Gutenberg was alive. And what he accomplished and what he did. This was a real, true revolutionary time. Sort of like we're living through now. Which started, of course, back in the year 2000 with the dot-com bubble. So this is the Gutenberg Bible. And it - sorry, it's not a Gutenberg Bible. Gutenberg has been a big part of Markzware. Gutenberg would have probably used FlightCheck. Because quality control was obviously a big issue. Even back then. People don't realize who really Tesla is, I don't think still. To be able to reproduce those and get them in the hands with democratized content. To get into the hands of the average layman. The historical side having a Bible that's from 1800. Where you can see how they printed, how they hand wove and bound it together. It's amazing. And then another side is just like - I still to this day, if I open it up and I look deep in the in the crease I can find like a hair. I found like a sewing pin from, you know, who knows, 1800-something, you know. So my passion for all this stuff, for print is just that it's amazing to be able to pick up a book and read what someone wrote. And they can spread that to thousands of people just with the press of a button nowadays in the Internet, you know. So FlightCheck is our flagship product. This is a product that Patrick Marchese and Ronald Crandall got a US patent on. It was an immediate hit because back then, you know, there was no PDF. We're redeveloping FlightCheck. It's always great to meet new people, and Dave Boles, President of Atlantic Packaging Products, is no exception. Experience, knowledge, and a strong focus on achieving goals drive him and the group of companies he manages. Under the Atlantic Group name, Dave Boles is responsible for paper production, converting, and print; the group even has other specialties they service. During the interview, Dave Boles also explained that everything is measured and that the companies operate under an almost zero-error policy, which gave the company a lot of advantages during the pandemic. Seems to be a good place to be :-) Dave Boles also said during the interview that they recently placed two VERY large orders with BHS - so all in all - great :-)

Datta Deshpande is the CEO and Owner of Pratham Technologies out of Pune, in India. Pratham Technologies is focusing on the production of folding machines for thin-paper, and small formats - with a focus on the inlay notes found in pharmaceutical packages. Datta Deshpande has a strong focus on a quality product, and mention in the interview, that Pratham Technologies only see two-three competitors in this segment.
